Bryce L. Nolt has died following a crash that shut down the westbound lanes of Interstate 76 on Oct. 7, authorities told Daily Voice.

Originally we were told that an "accident westbound at milepost 264.1," caused the shutdown and detour, PA Turnppike Director of Marketing & Public Relations Carl DeFebosaid on Saturday afternoon. He later got back to us and said one person had died in a crash.

The Pennsylvania State Police issued a release about the crash on Saturday night.

Troopers explained that 20-year-old Natasha J. Hoover, of Stevens lost control of the 2016 Hyundai Veloster – where Nolt was a front seat passenger – around 9:02 a.m. There was "steady moderate rainfall” in the area near the crash in South Londonderry Township, troopers said.

When Hoover struck an embankment, Nolt – who was not wearing a seatbelt – was "ejected through the sunroof" and tossed into I-76's westbound lanes, PSP said.

Hoover, who was seat belted, only suffered minor injuries and was taken by Northwest EMS to Hershey Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a police report.

The Mount Gretna Community and the Mastersonville volunteer fire companies assisted PSP at the scene.

The more than 20 miles of I-76 WB closures caused detours in Lebanon, Lancaster, and Dauphin counties. The closure started at mile marker 266.5 to 247.6, or Exit 266: Lebanon-Lancaster to Exit 247: Harrisburg East. The Turnpike closure began at 9:13 a.m. and reopened at 1:45 p.m., according to 511PA.
